TEDx Event at SDA Bocconi Asia Center
This year’s TEDx event at SDA Bocconi Asia Center was bigger and better than ever before!
With the theme ‘Glowsticks’, TEDxBocconiUMumbai ensured that the audience would take back the core message of the event: You glow even when you break. The theme was about embracing the challenges and setbacks, for they are the moments that shape us into the glowing and luminous beings that we are and are meant to be. It is an opportunity to understand, analyze and improve yourself with the experience and grit you gained and be your ray of light shining in the uncertain darkness of life.
TEDxBocconiUMumbai witnessed 8 brilliant speakers from different domains, who took centre stage and reflected upon their stories. The speakers were change-makers encouraging the audience to consider new perspectives and challenge conventional thinking.
Ms. Dixita Patel: an engineer turned fashion and lifestyle influencer spoke about her journey of self-discovery that helped her create opportunities for herself and excel in her passion by understanding the audience;
Mr. Shriram Iyer: a common name in the music industry who managed to capture everyone’s attention with his soulful voice through Coke Studio’s Yatra and ‘Dilli Dilli’ from No one killed Jessica spoke about his journey in the industry, highlighting the power of gratitude and consistent efforts;
Dr. Manisha Anwekar: apart from being a prolific author, she is involved in various social initiatives. She spoke about her failures and how they were essential to becoming what she is today;
Mr. Ashish Chopra: an amazing drag artist, successful entrepreneur, and co-founder of BeUnic, spoke about how being true to yourself can do wonders. He beautifully narrated how he realised who he was and how his resilience and sheer willpower held him together through his ups and downs;
Dr. Shibani Belwalkar: an insightful author, a compassionate leadership coach, and a professor, spoke about her life journey and how her determination led her to be the person she envisioned herself to be today. She believes in pouring her heart and soul into helping individuals and organizations uncover the deepest essence of who they are;
Ms. Anooja Bashir: entrepreneur, mentor, and CMO of Flexi Cloud talked about the failures in her entrepreneurial journey and how she turned the challenges into opportunities by having faith;
Ms Vaishali Shadangule: founder of Vaishali S Couture, the first Indian woman designer to represent Indian weaving at the global stage. She spoke about her incredible journey from the most humble beginnings to becoming a global phenomenon in the world of fashion. Her story proved that everything is possible if you hear your inner voice and do what is necessary to keep that voice alive;
Mr Zeeshan Pathan: MD and CEO of World Development Corporation talked about AI and ESG in terms of what the future will be and introduced the concept of UHI- Universal Hyper Intelligence leading towards Lux in Tenebris!
The day was full of heartwarming stories and concepts that touched the lives of everyone present. These stories revolved around individuals who have overcome adversity, found resilience in the face of challenges, and discovered the power of compassion. These stories and experiences were a constant reminder that when we face tough times, showing kindness, love, and never giving up can lead to incredible achievements.
Even though the event duration was one day, it took many sleepless nights for the team to find sponsors in the oppressive heat of April or meet merchants in the flooded days of June.
All the skills of coordination, negotiation, leadership, creativity, last minute hacks were put to the test during the entire tenure. There were last-minute deadlines, changes, and last-minute little defeats. But like any other event, the challenges were handled very well by the team that learned to adapt. The team glowed together!
